About this deal

All of that is here in his own words. What is left out are the contradictions of the man, the stories that change over time and any serious attempt to clear the air regarding accusations for the use of the substance Nandrolone. Which spurred his hiatus from the ring. In 2015 Tyson Fury was poised for a shot at the dominant heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and certain he would win, despite the long odds on his upsetting the steely Ukrainian. “He was thirty-nine years old and clearly slowing down…For some reason, he couldn’t see his end was on the horizon, but I could.”

Lapped this up in a couple of days. Phenomenal story from the heavyweight champion boxer. Proper raw, candid and relatable in so many ways. Something I wouldn't normally read, but hit a bit of a wall with reading recently and non-fiction always seems to be the leg-up to get me over. And it worked. What an absolute legend this guy is. He's hilarious, hard working, honest and just a genuine person. I especially liked hearing of his Irish and Traveller roots and what he liked and disliked in the Traveller community.

A truly great book. I always make how good an autobiography is if I feel I become a bigger fan of the person after I finished the book than I was when I started the book. In the case of this book, I was that was done by the time I finished the introduction. It’s hard to believe that a man who is so confident, outspoken and above all else the lineal heavyweight champion of the world could be brought to his knees by depression. This Biography my the man himself just shows that no matter who you are mental health issues and depression should never be taken likely and makes you aware that even warriors like Tyson Fury are not invincible.Gloves Off is not a case of bare-fisted self-exposure, but instead a carefully edited version of events. There is no mention, for example, of Daniel Kinahan, the alleged Irish gangster based in Dubai, whom Fury publicly thanked in 2020 for his work as a boxing promoter. And when Fury refers to his father being sentenced to 11 years in prison in 2011 (he served four), he merely says that it was “for getting involved in a fight”, which makes it sound like a spot of fisticuffs. In fact, John Fury gouged a man’s eye out, leaving him half-blind. As with all Tyson Fury boxing bouts, the fight will be broadcast live on BT Sport Box Office this April.
