PUMA Golf always does a fantastic job hyping their new products, but what captured my attention more than the flashy graphics of the new FASTEN8 line was the tagline “The newest edition of the IGNITE spikeless franchise.” The term franchise recognizes the fact that PUMA Golf has a widely popular golf shoe – so don’t go messing with it too much. As someone who has several generations of IGNITE shoes still in play, I’m pleased to see, and test, the FASTEN8 Pro. Due to the hilly nature of the course this was a good test for a spikeless shoe. Many of the shots played were from uneven, sloping lies and ideally for those shots you are usually wanting spiked shoes for that extra bit of traction. The Fasten8 dealt with it well though. Of course my shots were still bad but it had nothing to do with my feet.

This is the best way of testing a golf shoe as using it in the real world over a number of weeks allows us to see how they perform when variables change like weather, ground conditions, different stances and lies, and so on. The GS-Fast comes with a wide rubber outsole that is littered with a ton of small rubber studs.
