Naming Jack the Ripper: New Crime Scene Evidence - AbeBooks
Armed with his ‘knowledge’ that the police had, apparently, always known that Kosminski was the murderer, the author takes us through his attempt to link the shawl first to Catherine Eddoewes and then to Kosminski. There is the history of the shawl, his attempts to find descendents of both Eddowes and Kosminski, plus the personal history of both the victim and the assumed killer. However, again, there is the assumption that he IS the Ripper and it is difficult to assess this book without a proper examination of all the evidence and all the other possible suspects - and even that assumes that one of the suspects ARE the Ripper, when it could be somebody entirely unknown. The shawl came from the family of Metropolitan PC Amos Simpson (who was an acting sergeant stationed in 1888), who claim he took it from the scene of Catherine Eddowes murder. Simpson was a Met officer stationed in Islington, with no record of being seconded to Whitechapel for the Ripper investigation. The Eddowes murder took part in the City (which had and still has its own independent police force), so what business did Simpson have there and why would they let him walk off unnoticed with a potential piece of evidence? The family moved to Wales when she was a child, and when she was sixteen she met and married a collier named Davis or Davies. Three years later, her husband was killed in a mine explosion, and Mary moved to Cardiff to live with a female cousin who introduced her to prostitution.
Still Cannot Confirm the Identity of Jack the Ripper No, We Still Cannot Confirm the Identity of Jack the Ripper
Beginning at the end of the 2014 news story that underpins this book, Dr Louelainen - Russell's Edwards's scientific associate - made a scientific error in recording and analyzing DNA analysis results. The scarf that is the star of this book cannot in fact be linked by DNA to the Riper victim Catherine Eddowes.

Those who knew Mary around this time seem to have been quite found of her. According to one acquaintance she was an excellent scholar and an artist of no mean degree; whilst her friend Maria Harvey described her as, "much superior to most persons in her position in life."I don't doubt the sincerity of all concerned but are we looking at exciting new evidence or rush to print before peer review?
