Why are there such strange colours in the set? The colours are designed from an anatomical aspect. They represent the shades in the layers of real flesh and skin, building up a very natural and realistic look for your reborn babies. A matte fixative is typically used for charcoal and graphite artwork, preventing smudging without glare.

What if I work much slower? No problem, you just need to add a little of our ‘Slow Drying Medium’ and you can adjust the drying time to suit your pace. Varnish isn’t just divided by types, like satin and gloss, but also compromises different techniques as well. Matte varnish provides a subtle, non-reflective finish that works well for a natural look or pieces with lots of texture, while gloss varnish offers a shiny, reflective finish that can enhance colors and provide more durability. I personally prefer matte or semi. I never go for gloss. It’s my personal taste.Bottled drinking water and filtered water still contain trace elements and minerals that may also affect the paint over time so are not recommended either. These same adverse effects can also occur over time with de-ionised water which is purer than the others but not as pure as distilled water which is literally condensed steam.

Can they rub off over time? Absolutely not! Once set they cannot be rubbed off no matter how hard you might try (I have actually damaged the vinyl on one baby whilst scratching away to test their permanence – the vinyl has a decent scratch on it but the colour is still there!)The UV in UV coating means that the liquid coating is applied and then cured with UV drying lamps. This makes the finished product very resistant to being rubbed or scratched. Will the colours stay true? Yes, absolutely. All oil based paints yellow over time depending on how much light they are subjected to – including Genesis paints. Our paints have no oil in at all and the colours will always remain true. Apply 2 generous coats of our ultra glossy or matte varnish on the inside, outside and base of your creation. Allow this to set completely overnight to ensure a waterproof finish.

We were inspired to develop these paints for many reasons but primarily for health worries, ease of use and cost! Matte varnish has a flat, non-reflective finish that can give your artwork a more subdued and natural look. It can be particularly effective for pieces that have a lot of texture or detail, as it won’t detract from the intricacies of the work.If there’s one major disadvantage to varnish, it’s that it doesn’t offer the level of protection that other types of coatings like UV coating or aqueous coating (AQ) do. Matte varnish is also less likely to show fingerprints or smudges, making it a good choice for pieces that will be displayed without glass or in areas with high humidity. Wait for your piece to dry completely for a minimum of 2 - 3 days. It’s important your creation is bone dry before painting (very light in colour and hard to the touch).
