A frequency sweep indicated that (in our listening room) the system was reproducing tones down into the 30s of hertz, finding its full strength in the 60s and 70s and rising impressively smoothly from there. Since the speakers are rear-ported, positioning will affect this somewhat, but can also be usefully employed to tweak it. Denon is one of the few companies that can trace its ancestry to both Columbia (CBS) and Deutsch Gramophone. It was the Deutsch Gramophone group that founded Denon’s parent company as Japan Gramophone, in 1910.These speakers have been designed with Denon Hi-Fi craftsmanship. For best performance, a high-quality 12cm woofer / midrange chassis has been combined with a 3cm high definition tweeter and a crossover network with selected components that reproduces the smoothness of natural sound.

Today, Denon continues to introduce the most innovative audio/video products with the latest technologies, superb craftsmanship and the leading performance worldwide. There are various ways to tweak the sound quality, most easily accessed from the HEOS ‘now playing’ screen. This has a left-right balance control, plus EQ offering treble and bass sliders, and a ‘Super Dynamic Bass’ option, which certainly thumps up the low end, at the expense of a slight softening of higher frequencies; this was too much for us with internet radio, indeed it’s a sign of good sonic design that we spent nearly all of our CEOL listening with the ‘Source Direct’ option engaged, thereby hopefully getting the cleanest path to music. Great little system! Great little system, perfect for my needs. Haven't had the opportunity to test it to it's full potential yet but everything I have is perfect so far.
