Aptamil® Anti-Reflux Formula | Aptaclub
This baby is now 11 weeks old and showing signs of reflux and once again been fobbed off with gaviscon. We started it two days ago and it’s made her worse so we’ve stopped it. I'm happy to answer any questions about this subject as I know how hard it is to find anything about this milk on the net! Breastfeeding is best for babies. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. Follow-on milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet and should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months. We advise that all formula milks including the decision to start weaning should be made on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on baby’s individual needs.
Moving on from Aptamil Comfort milk
Partially hydrolysed formula (comfort formula) is not suitable for babies who have cows' milk allergy. Lactose-free formula If you can breastfeed, exclusive breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months. Breast milk helps improve a child’s immunity and supports a healthy weight for mum. Eating a healthy, nutritionally balanced diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding is also important for mums. This type of formula contains cows' milk proteins that have already been partly broken down (partially hydrolysed). This is supposed to make it easier to digest and help prevent digestive problems such as colic and constipation. However, there's no evidence for this.
